1931

Sellers Engineering Company was founded by Kelly Sellers in Chicago in 1931 when new industries were looking for ways to take advantage of natural gas energy. Sellers pioneered gas-fired equipment such as boilers, burners, water heating equipment and bakery equipment.

1940

As the United States prepared for war in the early 1940’s, the government drafted Sellers’ manufacturing expertise. Over 10,000 large volume water heaters were produced in record time by Sellers for Army installations throughout the United States. Many of these installations are still being used today.

1947

In 1947, as pipelines spread natural gas throughout the South, the company moved to its present home in Danville, KY. Here it has brought to an art form the design and construction of boilers, large volume water heaters, boiler feed systems and deaerators.

1930's and 1940's

As the boiler industry developed in the 1930’s and 1940’s, Sellers Engineering Company was on the forefront of burner development and technology. The picture to the right is a boiler system that utilized a blower motor to supply air for the main burner assembly. Kelly Sellers was on the cutting edge of what would come to be know as forced draft combustion.

Eventually, this design would be developed into the current forced draft systems used today. The next step in the evolution of boilers with forced draft combustion would be to seal the combustion chamber for pressurized firing. Once again, Kelly was a leader in the development of this technology.

Sellers will continue to be an industry leader in boiler and burner development. Whether it is in the area of improved efficiency or cleaner emissions, Sellers will be on the forefront of meeting tomorrow’s challenges. We will meet these challenges with innovative technology and will do so without sacrificing the simplicity, dependability and longevity that is synonymous with Sellers Engineering Company.
